Battery energy storage
Power plant controller, site controller and EMS: hardware architecture, code, testing and commissioning. PCS and BMS integration; functional, performance and capacity testing through commercial operation.
Controls & commissioning · Houston, Texas
Bumpless LLC architects, builds, tests and commissions the control systems behind utility-scale battery storage, substations and critical power. One firm from hardware architecture to final turnover, so nothing gets lost between phases.
Full lifecycle
Most projects split controls across several hands: one firm lays out the hardware, another writes the logic, a third tests it, a fourth commissions it. Each handoff is where details get lost. Bumpless covers the whole path.
Control system hardware architecture: controllers, I/O, networks and communications.
Power plant controller code built from the ground up, plus points lists, SCADA and HMI setup.
Simulation, factory and site acceptance testing, point-to-point checkout, validation against requirements.
Field commissioning and substation support, energization, functional and performance testing.
As-left documentation, operator walkthroughs, then troubleshooting and upgrades once it's running.
Track record
Built a power plant controller from the ground up, covering hardware architecture, code, deployment, testing and validation, while supporting field commissioning and the substation side of the project.
Need just one phase? That works too. Each step is available on its own, and comes with the context of having done all of them.
Services
Hands-on controls work across the systems that keep the grid and critical facilities running.
Power plant controller, site controller and EMS: hardware architecture, code, testing and commissioning. PCS and BMS integration; functional, performance and capacity testing through commercial operation.
SCADA and RTU configuration and integration, point-to-point checkout, communications testing and energization support alongside the utility.
Controls checkout and integrated systems testing for switchgear, UPS and generator sequences, proven before the load depends on them.
Written test plans, punch-list closure and as-left documentation that an operations team can actually use.
Approach
A small firm on purpose. You deal directly with the person doing the work.
The logic on the controller and the person on site with the test plan are the same. No hand-offs to someone you've never met, and no re-learning the system at energization.
Every test is written, reviewed and agreed before anything is energized, so there are no surprises on test day.
Based in the Houston area and used to living on the road, across the U.S. and abroad.
W-9 and vendor paperwork turned around quickly, with clear scopes and plain invoices.
The name
In control systems, a bumpless transfer switches a process from manual to automatic, or from one controller to another, without a disturbance in the output.
It's the standard for every handover on a project: construction to commissioning, and commissioning to operations.
When the switch happens and nobody notices, that's the job done right.
